Overview
2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz Changes
The 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz gets a new trim level for its third year on the market. The ruggedly styled XRT replaces the SEL Premium as the line's second in command. LED headlights are now standard, and the SEL trim gains dual-zone automatic climate control and an automatic defogger.
Choosing Your 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz
The 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz is available in five trim levels: SE, SEL, Night, XRT, and Limited. Pricing for the Santa Cruz starts at $27,985 including destination and tops out at $42,405 for the Limited.
2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz Engine Options
The SE and SEL carry a normally aspired four-cylinder engine, while the Night, XRT, and Limited get a turbocharged version. The SE and SEL start with front-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive is available for $1,500. AWD is standard on subsequent trims. The Santa Cruz carries an eight-speed automatic transmission, joined by paddle shifters on turbo models.
Engine Type | Horsepower | Torque |
2.5L 4-Cyl | 191 hp | 181 lb-ft |
2.5L Turbo 4-Cyl | 281 hp | 311 lb-ft |

2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz Fuel Economy
With the standard engine and front-wheel drive, the 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz is EPA-rated at 22 miles per gallon city, 26 mpg highway, and 23 combined. With AWD, estimates ease to 21/25/23 mpg (city/highway combined).
The Santa Cruz is less efficient with the turbocharged engine and AWD, earning 19/27/22 mpg in EPA resting.
2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz Towing Capacity
The 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz can tow up to 3,500 pounds with the standard drivetrain. Pulling capacity increases to 5,000 pounds with the turbo and AWD.
2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz Dimensions & Cargo Capacity
The 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz is a compact pickup with seating for five. The body measures 196 inches long, 75 inches wide, and 67 inches tall. Headroom is especially generous for this class.
The bed is 52.1 inches long at the bottom, tapering to 48.4 inches at the top. That's about two feet shorter than a conventional pickup, but the open design provides more cargo-carrying possibilities than a crossover. The Santa Cruz also offers a storage compartment under the bed floor and a removable storage bin under the rear seat.

2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz Safety
Every 204 Santa Cruz comes equipped with lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, driver alertness monitoring, rear occupant alert, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
The XRT picks up adaptive cruise control, and the Limited adds surround-view cameras and a blind-spot camera view.
2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz Technology
The standard infotainment system for the 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz includes an 8-inch touchscreen, six speakers, HD radio, two front USB ports, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SEL brings satellite radio and is available with a $3,660 Activity Package that includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen, navigation, and wireless phone charging. These items are standard starting with the Night. The Limited also gets two rear USB ports and an eight-speaker Bose sound system.

2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz Trims & Prices
2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz SE — MSRP From $27,985
The SE comes with full LED exterior lighting, stain-resistant cloth upholstery, heated side mirrors, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The tailgate features assisted opening and closing to minimize effort.
2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz SEL — MSRP From $30,735
The SEL adds an eight-way power driver seat, heated front seats, remote start, proximity keyless access, and automatic dual-zone climate control. In addition to its tech upgrades, the Activity Package ($3,660) tacks on LED interior lighting, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a sliding rear window, an integrated bed cover, roof rails, cargo bed channels, a sunroof, and in-bed power outlet.
2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz Night — MSRP From $39,545
The Night adopts the turbocharged engine and AWD, along with the contents of the Activity Package. The exterior receives dark trim and body components, matched with 20-inch black wheels. Black leatherette seats are also standard.
2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz XRT — MSRP From $41,185
The XRT is equipped like the Night, but with its own exterior styling treatment that includes an abundance of matte black trim and badging, unique 18-inch wheels, and premium LED running lights. The interior receives a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.
2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz Limited — MSRP From $42,405
The Limited offers a leather interior with ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a universal home remote. Automatic wipers are also standard. Dark chrome trim and 20-inch wheels distinguish the outside.
CarsDirect Tip
The 2022 Hyundai Santa SE and SEL are reasonably adventurous for the price, although performance is nothing special with the base engine. The remaining three trims, with their turbo and standard AWD, offer greater potential for fun to those willing to pay for it.

2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz Breaks The Pickup Mold
The 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz is a segment-disrupting vehicle that can transition from daily commuting to weekend adventure whenever the mood strikes. The Santa Cruz combines the comforts of a crossover with the utility and spunk of a small pickup.
The Santa Cruz isn't as efficient as its size suggests and gets expensive when equipped, but it hits the spot for buyers who want a distinctive ride they can live with every day.
2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz Is Comfortably Rugged
The cab of the Santa Cruz borrows its basic structure from Hyundai's Tuscon crossover. The Santa Cruz distinguishes itself with chunky headlights, tall wheel arches, and black lower-body cladding. The 4-foot bed is about 2 feet shorter than a conventional pickup bed but offers more cargo-hauling possibilities than a crossover of similar size. The Santa Cruz comes with a drainable storage compartment under the bed floor, and a locking tonneau cover is available to keep gear dry and secure. With the cover in place, the bed provides 27 cubic feet of cargo space.
The Santa Cruz seats five with as much rear legroom as many small crossovers. Rear passengers enjoy a more natural seating position than in an extended-cab pickup. The seat bottom flips up to reveal a removable storage bin.
The front compartment matches the Tuscon in terms of comfort and design. The dashboard houses cleverly concealed climate vents and a center stack canted toward the driver. While attractive, the available 10.3-inch touchscreen and gloss black climate panel are especially prone to fingerprints.
2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz Needs The Turbo
The Santa Cruz lineup starts around $28,000 with front-wheel drive and a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that makes 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. Buyers can add all-wheel drive for $1,500. The eight-speed automatic transmission operates smoothly, but there's simply not enough power on hand to move the Santa Cruz with any enthusiasm, especially with the added weight of AWD. Efficiency is below average as well at 22 miles per gallon city, 26 mph highway, and 23 combined. At least the combined rating is the same with AWD.
The available turbocharged 2.5-liter transforms the Santa Cruz into a spirited performer. The turbo produces 281 hp and 311 lb-ft, and comes exclusively with AWD. Turbocharged models get an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic with paddler shifters, which come in handy because the dual-clutch can hesitate to downshift at lower speeds.
There's no real penalty for the extra power. The turbocharged models are EPA-rated at 22 mpg combined. However, there's a price to pay in sheer dollars. The turbocharged trims range from around $40,000 to $43,000, a steep sum for a vehicle this size.
Every Santa Cruz rides smoothly for a vehicle with an open bed. In fact, the ride is indistinguishable from more family-oriented small crossovers.
When it comes to towing, the Santa Cruz performs like a midsize or even large crossover. The standard powertrain can pull up to 3,500 pounds, and turbo models are rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds. With 8.6 inches of ground clearance, AWD versions are fit for light off-roading.
Is The 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz A Safe Vehicle?
The IIHS rates the standard automatic emergency braking system with pedestrian detection as "Superior." Other features include lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and driver attention monitoring. Buyers can add adaptive cruise control, surround-view cameras, and a blind-spot camera display.
The Santa Cruz receives a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA and is an IIHS Top Safety Pick. It's safe to say the Santa Cruz covers all the bases when it comes to accident avoidance and passenger protection.
Is The 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz A Good Pickup?
The Santa Cruz skillfully bridges the gap between a conventional pickup and a crossover. It offers fine utility and capability without asking buyers to sacrifice comfort or maneuverability. To get the most out of the Santa Cruz, you have to spring for the turbocharged engine and AWD. These features don't come cheaply, but they do make the Santa Cruz highly enjoyable.
2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz Alternatives
The 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz competes with less-than-full-size pickups like the Ford Maverick, which is cheaper but doesn't measure up in standard equipment or interior quality. The Honda Ridgeline is larger and more expensive but offers the same towing capacity. The Chevrolet Colorado and Toyota Tacoma are true pickups, though they don't deliver the same level of comfort or refinement.
